long before th first photography were made, chinese philosopher Mo Di, and Greek Mathematician Aristotle, and Euclid, described a Pinhole Camera in the 5thand 4th Centuries BCE.

The first Camera Photography found in 1820s. the first permanent photoetching was an image produced in 1822s, by the Frenc Inventor  Nicéphore Niépce

all Photography was originally monochrome or Black and White, even after color film was readly available Black and White Photography continued to domination for decades, It's Classic Photography look.

Color Photography was explored beginning in the mid 19th century. the first color of photography was taken in 1861 by James Clerk Maxwell using the three color separation.
